The Formula SAE team from Monash University, Victoria, Australia is known around the world as a major competitor at collegiate SAE events.
So when SolidWorks Value Added Reseller, InterCAD decided to host a Student Design Contest, the competition was intense.
InterCAD provided judges and speakers for the event. Luke Kenny, InterCAD’s business development manager, spoke to students about how the SolidWorks skills they are learning are valued by industry.
I asked Dr Scott Wordley, Researcher, Mechanical Engineering Faculty member, Formula SAE director, at Monash University, why they use SolidWorks, he said,
“We use SolidWorks at Monash because it is powerful and yet easy to learn for novice users. The inbuilt tutorials are a great resource for students and we use them extensively in our teaching. Our students were very excited to be able to take the CSWA (Certified SolidWorks Associate) exam as part of their Mechanical Design 1 subject, and received marks for it as well as an industry recognized qualification.”
The winning students were delighted to get the opportunity to take their SolidWorks skills to the next level with the awarded prize of the Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) exam.
And the InterCAD-SolidWorks Award for the Best Warman Device CAD Model award goes to “Team Sodium”
